There were very few buzzards to be seen when I was a boy. Now they seem to be all over the place.
I've had 3 very close and rather excellent sightings but the blighters seem to know when your camera is in it's case. By the time it's out and switched on the birds can be a speck on the horizon.
The red kites in darkest Galloway are starting to spread and a couple of times of late I've spotted one quite close to Kirkcudbright - I expect to see for more of these in the future. They'll not quite be at Swindon for a while but I'm sure they'll arrive with time.
if you want to see kite's the best road is between henley and benson, they just show off there (as kite's do)
ps,,, you at avebury for may day ?
I'm afraid I'm at sea on Mayday but, all being well, I'm about to have wheels again, so I should make the odd festival there when they start colliding with my time off.
